Sweet potatoes have always been a comfort food for me, especially during the cooler months when their warm, earthy flavors bring a sense of coziness to any meal. Over the years, I’ve experimented with various spices and techniques to create a version that truly reflects my tastes.

This recipe is the result of that journey, combining the natural sweetness of the potatoes with the smoky heat of paprika and the warm undertones of cinnamon. The addition of oregano and garlic adds a savory depth that makes this dish both simple and flavorful.

Whenever I make these roasted sweet potatoes, I’m reminded of the joy that comes from creating something that not only satisfies the palate but also brings warmth to the soul. Ingredients :

  • 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Preparation:

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).

  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 2 cm (about 1 inch) cubes.

  • Rinse the sweet potato cubes under cold water to remove excess starch. Pat them dry thoroughly with a kitchen towel.

Marination:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, smoked paprika, ground cinnamon, minced garlic, oregano, and salt. Mix well until the spices are evenly distributed.

  • Add the sweet potato cubes to the bowl and toss them until all the pieces are evenly coated with the marinade.

Roasting:

  • Spread the marinated sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray, ensuring there is space between the cubes for even cooking.

  • Place the tray in the preheated oven and roast for 15 minutes.

  • After 15 minutes, remove the tray and flip the sweet potato cubes to ensure they cook evenly.

  • Return the tray to the oven and roast for another 15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
